Fix or Destroy – Repair Cafe

Join us this Saturday, Oct 21, for TWO great events that were made for each other. Repair Café is our quarterly day of service to the community where our volunteer repair folk will help you fix your tired or broken stuff, to rescue it from the recycle or garbage bins. Thursday Tech Week 2

We had a great start to our Thursday night tech series last week. This week we will move the early meetup for kids and newbie adult programmers back a half hour to now start at 5:30. This will give some folks enough time to arrive from school or work. We’re working our way through the Kahn Academy online free course in JavaScript programming. Robotics for Big Kids

Older teens and adults are invited to join us at the MakerSpace to form an adult robotics club, to work on various type of robots and drones. Some folks have expressed interest in a competition league perhaps based on the BattleBots TV show. There are also competitions to create underwater rovers and unmanned aerial vehicles (aka drones). The current plan is to meet once a week on Saturday morning though folks can work at the Makerspace throughout the week. Join us on Thursday evenings this Fall for what promises to be a fun time working on software and hardware projects of all types which a special focus on gadgets that interact with other gadgets and virtual worlds on the Internet (aka Internet of Things), and with the ultimate universe of virtual worlds, Minecraft. FLL Robotics 2017 Season

FIRST LEGO League is a fun competitive team sport in education. Kids, ages 9-14, meet once a week to work together on three projects represented in the FLL triangle. In the Robot Game, the team’s task is to design, engineer, and program a robot to complete a variety of challenges on the competition board. In the Project, the team does research to explore a problem, develop a unique solution, and communicate their result via an engaging skit.
