Makers Camp, August 1 – 5

We’re excited to add a special camp to construct a Rube Goldberg Machine, a contraption that does nothing useful but in a very complicated and convoluted manner. Each camper will have their own section to design and build with help from the entire team. Sections may be entirely mechanical or may contain electronic, robotic and computer controlled devices. On day one, the kids will brainstorm the purpose of the machine. The theme for this year will be trash and recycling. As an example, there are many efficient designs to crush a can, and crushed cans save a lot of space making it… (Read More)

Spring Break Is Here

Kids love this week. Not even windy and wet weather can disappoint a kid because worse case there’s a) no school and b) Summer is right around the corner. We’re busy this week with our “taste of tech” camp program with a great set of kids eager to learn, share, and play their way to becoming future engineers and scientists. Or maybe an artist or a poet. We’re working with creative software and engaging environments to teach animation, game design, and programming skills. And that’s just day one!

Camp Update

Our Minecraft camp is now full! We will still accept standby reservations in case a seat opens up. It sounds like perhaps we should have more Minecraft activities, like our adventure quest this Friday from 5-9pm. Our other camps, including Spring Break Tech Camp this week, are about half full. Watch for the announcement next week. Hmm, how to integrate Minecraft into it…

Rubik’s Cube Solver Bot

One of our makers at Just Robotics Summer Camp built a Rubik’s Cube Solver Bot.  The robot was based on the Mindcub3r design for LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Robotics Set. MakerSpace has a resident rubik’s cube solver that often performs at festivals and events, but this robot is by far the coolest looking rubik’s cube solver bot I’ve ever seen. Check out the video:
