Are your kids engaged in hands-on learning of science and technology that is fun, challenging, and rewarding? Are they interested in career topics like animation, game design, electronics, or robotics? Are you looking for a camp that has a great student/instructor ratio, with a curriculum for advanced students?
The Greenbelt MakerSpace has what you need and what your kids want! This is our fourth year of providing camps designed to engage our campers in hands-on activities that they enjoy so much, they forget they are learning core skills in computer science and engineering.
Our Engineering Makers’ Camp (August 7 – 11) will get our kids working on a week-long team project to create a Rube Goldberg Machine. On day one we will agree to the purpose of the machine, e.g. to crash a can for recycling. From that point on the week is packed with activities to challenge the imagination and learn the skills needed to implement each camper’s piece of the machine. Remember, RGM isn’t about being direct and efficient. We’re looking for complicated and convoluted methods that are fun to build! While we expect a lot of pure mechanical elements, campers will be equipped to add microcontrollers, robotics, and computer controls.
Our camps are designed for kids 9 to 14 with advanced projects available for older students.
This is a five day camp with optional morning and/or afternoon care to meet your schedule needs. Fees, rebates, or refunds will be processed on the first day of camp.
The camp fee is $250 with a $50 deposit that is non-refundable. Full payment is due three weeks before camp starts. No refund without a replacement camper. Please contact us if you need financial assistance or if you have more than one camper.
